VNG UPRACE 12+1: MESSAGE FROM NEWBORNS VIETNAM

To All VNG Runners!

VNG Inspired to run to help the next newborn infant survive!

At Newborns Vietnam we believe sports has the ability to transform lives, not only one’s own, but others as well.  If you look at your own CEO, his transformation through sports has been nothing short of extraordinary. In the span of just a few years, Mr. Minh has undergone a radical transformation that has seen him finish multiple IRONMAN events, ultra-trail runs and now preparing to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro in September. My fellow trustee, Bang Trinh has shared with me how he has seen this transformation spread within the VNG organisation as Minh has shared his passion and enthusiasm for sport and challenged others to not only transform their own lives but also the lives of others.  I’ve seen this change in my own personal interactions with Mr. Tien, your COO and others I’ve spoken to within VNG.

Since 2012, Newborns has been dedicated to working with the Ministry of Health, local and national hospitals to implement specialist training programmes for nurses and doctors to reduce the incidence of preventable newborn deaths in this country.  In the US and UK, the journey towards first world newborn care took more than 50 years.   In Vietnam, we aim to, and must succeed in our mission to shorten this time frame.   The parents and families of our precious newborns need us to succeed, the doctors and nurses who are at the front line every day caring for our newborns during the vulnerable first hours and early days of their lives need our support.

I am very proud to witness the incredible impact that the VNG 12+1 UpRace has in transforming newborn lives in Vietnam.  The impact of this run is two-fold; one, raising much needed capital to fund our programmes and two and perhaps more importantly, bringing awareness and spreading the news of our important mission to give every newborn the chance to celebrate his or her first birthday to the broader Vietnamese community.

Thank you so much for the inspiring efforts you have put forth in support of the newborns of this country and I look forward to celebrating with all of you at the finish line.

With best wishes

Suzanna
